Biography:

D.O.B: March 29,1945
Margaret Buffie was born and grew up in the west end of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She attended the University of Manitoba. Margaret was an artist for many years. She began writing in 1985. A year later she finished her first manuscript and the Kids Can Press published Who is Frances Rain. It quickly became a bestseller after it was released in1987. She has since then published five more bestsellers. Margaret has been published worldwide and received a number of awards and honours.

Why she became a writer:

Margaret always wanted to be writer and she knew she would write a book. Her grade four teacher confirmed it by telling Margaret she had the potential to become a writer. Margaret never forgot that.

Types of books:

Margaret's books are fictional. But some of the plot or setting in the book is sometimes
based on something real but then she lets imagination go as in her first novel Who is Frances Rain. This novel is based on her experience as a child going to a cottage in the summers. One day as she was digging in a dump by her cottage she found a pair of old glasses and she asked herself what it would be like if she could put on those glasses and look into the past. Her books are written for young adults.

Achievements/Awards:

Margaret has been nominated for many awards including the Manitoba Young Readers Award and the Governor General's Award.
