Biography:
Brian Doyle spent his youth in Gatineau Hills, north of Ottawa, the ancestral home of his father Hulbert. It was probably here, surrounded by the Irish culture of those who settled here 100 years earlier, that he collected his love of stories. He has written 11 books and received many more awards since then. His first book, Hey, Dad!, was published in 1978. His latest, Mary Ann Alice, won the IODE National Chapter Award, the Leishman Prize, and was short listed for the Governor General's Literary Award and the Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction.
