Biography:
Michèle
Lemieux was born in Quebec City, Quebec on May 29 1955. She
now lives and paints in Montreal Quebec. Her paintings have
been exhibited in New York, Tokyo, Czechoslovakia, Germany,
France and Italy. Her stories have been published in
English, French, German and lot's of other of languages.
Along with her painting she is teaching drawing and
illustration at the University du Quebec à Montreal
since 1982.
Why she became
a writer and illustrator:
Ever since a young child, Michèle Lemieux has enjoyed
arts, crafts, writing and drawing. She wrote puppet lines
and then turned them from performances, into stories. So
writing was a natural thing for her.
Types of
books:
Michèle Lemieux writes fiction and fantasy stories.
She has written the following titles: Amahl and the Night
Visitors, El Bal des chenilles, La Baleine fantastique, Une
bien mauvaise grippe, Un Cadeau de saint François,
Magie d'hiver, Peter and the wolf, The Pied Piper of
Hamelin, Quel est Une bruit? There was an old man, La Vache
et d'autres animaux, Voices on the wind, Winter Magic and
What's that noise?
These books are not novels but beautifully illustrated and written books that appeal to both young and old.
Achievements/Awards:
Michèle is well known for her illustrations and won
the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Award for Stormy Night in
1999
