Jean Little

Biography:

Jean Little was born to Canadian parents in Taiwan on January 2, 1932.She had two brothers and one sister. When she was a little girl Jean was teased about her bad eyesight, which she thought was perfectly normal. Jean moved to Canada during World War two. She graduated in 1954 and went to the University of Toronto.

 

Why became a writer:

Jean has loved books since she was a kid. First she wanted to be a teacher, but later on she decided to become a writer. Since she has bad eyesight Jean bought a talking computer to help her write. It cost her $20,000! She has been writing books for 40 years and has published 31 books!

 

Types of books:

Ms. Little has written all sorts of books including novels, collections of poems, and autobiographies. Jean Little has written a lot about crippled or injured kids. You can read my review of her book Mine For Keeps .

 

Achievements/Awards:

Jean's books have won many awards such as the CLA best book of the year for children. She is also a member of the Order of Canada.
