Roy MacGregor

Biography:

Roy MacGregor was born June 4,1948 in Whitney, Ontario. Roy was the third of four children.He went to a public school and high school on the west side of Algonquin park. He was like most kids in Canada, he wanted to be a hockey player. He played on a number of teams and enjoyed it. He did not do very well in school when he was a kid, but later he got serious and studied both political science and journalism. He has worked for newspapers and magazines such as MacLean's and The Citizen.   Now he lives in Quebec and is best known by kids for his Screech Owl Series.

 

Why he became a writer:

Roy studied journalism and has worked in that field for a lot of his life. Writing books is just a natural for him.

Types of books:

Roy writes mystery/hockey novels for children. He also writes beginner books for little children.  His most favourite type of books are the Screech Owls series. The Screech Owls are Hockey/mystery books. They are very interesting and very fun. The first Screech Owls book that he wrote was Mystery at Lake Placid. Read a review of this series written by a kid.
