Biography:

Lucy Maude Montgomery was born in Clifton, P.E.I. on Nov 30 1874. ( which is my birthday, by the way!) She found out that she could write poetry at the age of 9. Her mother (Clara MacNeil) died when Lucy was 21 months old.Lucy married Reverent Macdonald on July 11, 1911. She had 3 children. Her family moved to Ontario in 1926. She died in Toronto April 24,1942. She got buried in Cavendish P.E.I. 

 

Why became a writer:

 L.M. Mongomery had her first poem published in a local newspaper when she was 15 years old. She was inspired to write about Anne of Green Gables by her home by the sea and the people she grew up with.

Types of books:

She wrote mostly fiction books about made up characters and their life on P.E.I. A popular character was Anne of Green Gables. She also wrote poems, non-fiction, short stories and a book called picturing a Canadian Life. You can read my review of her book, Anne of Green Gables.

Achievements/Awards:

The books L.M.Montgomery wrote are known all around the world especially Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Green Gables is so popular that it has been translated into 15 different languages.
