Biography:

Farley Mowat was born in Belleville , Ontario to proud parents Helen and Angus Mowat on May 12th 1921. He was an only child and during the Great Depression he moved a lot . He finally settled in Saskatchewan. Farley Mowat was a lover of nature and animals. He had a dog named Mutt who was only one of Mowat's many pets. He has been writing since he was a preteen. His father was a librarian. When Farley was young , he had a lot of freedom to do what he pleased, which was to explore nature.

 

Why became a writer:

Farley Mowat became a writer because he enjoyed writing about his experiences and about his thoughts. Some considered him a scientist, but he really preferred writing.

 

Types of books:

Farley Mowat wrote books about animals, his experiences, and his thoughts. Some of his books include: Never Cry Wolf, People of the Deer, The Dog Who Wouldn't Be, The Desperate People and And No Birds sang. You can read my review of his book Never Cry Wolf.

 

Achievements/Awards:

Mr. Mowat received many awards and achievements. He won the 1996 Governor General Award,various author of the Year Awards,the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Medal,Gemini Award,and the Canadian Centennial Award.
