Biography:
Kit was born in Edmonton , Alberta , April 30 ,1947. Later in her life she moved to Vancouver , British Columbia. She was schooled at the Crofton House School for Girls. Later she moved on to university to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree. Kit never married.

She has written several books. These books include The Daring Game ( Her first novel) A Handful of Time , Looking at the Moon , and Awake and Dreaming .

 

Why she became a writer:
The inspirations for Pearson's books are from different places. Her inspiration for Awake and Dreaming came from listening to people around her .

She became aware that she wanted to write when she read Emily of New Moon by L. M. Montgomery . She was twelve years old at the time but did not start writing until she was thirty-five.

 

Types of books:
Kit mostly writes fiction for children, historical fiction, fantasy, you name it! You can read my review of her book A Handful in Time

 

Achievements/Awards:

  • Kit won the Canadian Library Association Book of the Year for Children Award for A Handful of Time and The Sky is Falling
  • Mr.Christie's Book Award for The Sky is Falling
  • Governor General's Award for Awake and Dreaming
  • Geoffrey Bilson Award for Historical Fiction for The Sky is Falling and The Lights go on Again
