- Learn about landmines
yourself so that you can share your knowledge with
others. Use the Treasure
Hunt on our website
to learn about the issues and the solutions.
- Download the
The
Mine Action Workbook
from the Safelane Website, the official web site of the
Ottawa Process. The workbook is in pdf format so you can
save it and print it out. It's a great resource for
learning about landmines.
- Learn about the rights
that are guaranteed to all children by the United Nations
Convention on the Rights of the Child. See what kids in
USA, Australia and Canada did to help others learn
through their website One
World, Many Rights

Spread the
Word
- Organize a landmine
awareness day or assembly
- Do a project on landmines
and their dangers.
- Print your own posters and
pamphlets to hang in school or community
centers
- Tell others about the
Youth Against War Treaty. Sign the treaty! Get others to sign
the treaty!
- Use the Internet to spread
the word on any activities that you are
organizing.
- Invite peacekeepers to
talk about their experiences in landmine-affected
countries.
- Write an article for your
school or local newspaper on the crises of
landmines.
- Get your principal to have
a short bell ring every 22 minutes as a reminder that
somewhere in the world a person became another landmine
victim.
- Invite the media to attend
and report on your landmine awareness event.

Fundraising
- Use your creativity to
come up with ideas of how to raise funds.
- Organize a sporting event
between teachers and parents.
- Hold a poster contest and
have the community bid on them.
- Make buttons and sell them
as we did.
- Organize a walk-a-thon or
a run for landmine victims. Get sponsors and have media
participate.
